Established in 1917, Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is the U.S. Army's oldest active proving ground and a cornerstone of Aberdeen's identity. APG is home to the Army Research Laboratory, the Communications-Electronics Command, and numerous other defense agencies. The installation plays a vital role in national security and is one of the largest employers in Harford County.

The U.S. Army Ordnance Museum preserves and displays the history of Army Ordnance from the Revolutionary War to the present. The museum features an extensive outdoor collection of tanks, artillery, and military vehicles, as well as indoor exhibits showcasing weapons, ammunition, and the stories of the soldiers who served.
